radeon, amdgpu and 2 screens

I got a new MSI radeon 570 with 8gb (I used to have an nvidia 650ti) with 2 1080p 23" monitors (LG & ASUS: bought at different times).

When I boot I get the 2 screens with the grub menu on both screens.

As soon as I press enter or select whatever, one of the screen gets disconnected and I can't reactivate it.

$ cat /etc/default/grub | grep -ve ^#
GRUB_DEFAULT=saved
GRUB_TIMEOUT=10
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE='menu'
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="ipv6.disable=1 resume=UUID=42767d47-412f-461e-9eac-f17146164b0d"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
GRUB_SAVEDEFAULT=true
GRUB_PRELOAD_MODULES="part_gpt part_msdos"
GRUB_TERMINAL_INPUT=console
GRUB_GFXMODE=auto
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep
GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY=true
GRUB_COLOR_NORMAL="light-gray/black"
GRUB_COLOR_HIGHLIGHT="green/black"

I have tried 4.14.90, 4.19.13, 4.20.0: it's the same thing.

I can't reactivate the second screen:

$ xrandr

   720x400       70.08

$xrandr --listproviders

Something in the boot process deactivates the 2nd screen. It happens immediately after the grub menu.

I have tried: amdgpu.dc=1 amdgpu.dpm=0 as command line parameters without success.

Any suggestion on what to do?

Thanks

Syv

Re: radeon, amdgpu and 2 screens

What about "amdgpu.dc=0" on the kernel command line? Did you try that as well? You only mention "amdgpu.dc=1" which is the default setting.

I have already tried amdgpu.dc=0. Same results. The 2nd monitor is disconnected according xrandr.

Thanks

Do you see something interesting in the Xorg log file or the journal?

Re: radeon, amdgpu and 2 screens

[    17.393] (II) AMDGPU(0): glamor X acceleration enabled on Radeon RX 570 Series (POLARIS10, DRM 3.27.0, 4.20.0-1-MANJARO, LLVM 7.0.0)
[    1.838385] usb usb1: Manufacturer: Linux 4.20.0-1-MANJARO ehci_hcd

If you have both arch linux and manjaro installed, post logs from an arch linux boot.
Incase you only have manjaro, ask on their forums.

Multi-init booting with apg Openrc and systemd coexisting
Automounting : not needed, i prefer pmount
Aur helpers : makepkg + my own local repo === rarely need them
