Hi, I've got a problem with Xfce-svn installed via pacman from
Server = http://arch.os-zen.net/pkg/xfce-svn
After logging, Xfce is loading and after while I can see 2 panels and black screen (and without icons on desktop) although I set the wallpaper. It shows up after ca 5 minutes. What's more - when I want to start Thunar I must wait few minutes. I thought it was caused by some error with thunar package, but I've updated thunar few times since it happened first time.
I post this problem on polish forum, but it's unsolved... Can somebody help me?

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

I use repo I wrote in my first post, so I had to add it to server list in pacman.conf...

How did you start xfce? Was it using CPU while you're waiting? You could try to start xterm after x (without desktop), then run the following to see if each of them works:
· xfdesktop &
· xfce4-panel &
· xfwm4 --daemon

Take a look at page 3 of this thread. Linky linky
I made it long
as I lacked the time to make it short...

I start with GDM. CPU is NOT used by thunar while I'm waiting (interesting, isn't it?). And they work properly expect xfdesktop - it's black but it's probably because thunar is not running...

What exactly?

use startxfce4 directly in the vc/X.

You are using an older repository that hasn't been compiled for Current. Look here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sha … positories

I've changed repo, de-installed whole xfce4-svn, deleted every xfce configs from ~/ and finally installed xfce once again. Thunar isn't still working properly, but new error appeared when tried to run it:
(thunar:3336): thunar-vfs-WARNING **: Nie mo¿na polaczyc sie z daemonem HAL: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: Nie ma takiego pliku ani katalogu
Thunar: Failed to connect to the D-BUS session bus: Unable to determine the address of the message bus (try 'man dbus-launch' and 'man dbus-daemon' for help)
So, it's dbus problem, I try to fix it and then I'll write if it's ok...

Try:
$ dbus-launch thunar

When I try to run thunar in this way
$ dbus-launch thunar
I'm waiting few minutes once again and this time such warning shows up:
(thunar:3265): thunar-vfs-WARNING **: Nie można połączyć się z daemonem HAL: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: Nie ma takiego pliku ani katalogu
which means
(thunar:3265): thunar-vfs-WARNING **: cannot connect to HALdeamon: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file nor directory

(i assume) that is shadow hand's repo (old)
use the current repo:
[mousetrap]
#{shadowhand}#
Server = http://arch.os-zen.net/user/shadowhand/mousetrap/packages
you can use this page as reference to working/current repos ... http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uno … positories
i personally check it every few days to make sure they are all in order .. and add new repos i find. i encourage you guys to add repos to find as well
