How to register the bootloader after I copied the image via dd?

When I copy the image through unetbootin, the disk becomes bootable and I'm loading into the live arch system.
But when I write to a flash drive with a fat32 image using the dd utility, I can not boot into the image and the computer does not see the flash drive because the boot sector is probably not being recorded. What should I do?

dd the image to the usb stick itself instead of a partition on the stick.
