X, DRM and closing the laptop lid...

...causes the laptop to freeze up. I've gotten so far that I can determine that it is DRM that is the bad guy in this but I can't find a solution. It's a Dell Latitude C400 with an i810 graphics card in it.

What happens is that when I run any 3d applications and close the lid it hangs badly.

Does anyone have any ideas about this?
