Recently, my Chromium browser, which is my default and only browser for gmail, appears also listed in third-party apps with full account access in my Google account security settings.
Accordingly, in my account activity details I have entries of both types, namely Browser (Chrome) [the standard one, which has always been present], and Unknown [from the same IP address, mine].
(I do use 2FA with security keys, but not yet advanced protection.)
This looks like a Gmail issue, but it may also have something to do with Chromium in arch linux.

OK, so what's the issue here?

The issue is that Chromium should not appear in the third-party app list, and moreover not as Unknown in activity.
(At least that's what happened until recently.)

Except that is *is* a 3rd party app

I see, although I've been using it for a few years, and I never noticed it showing up in that list until recently, and moreover it was not generating Unknown entries in the activity list.

Or, may it have to do with the recently introduced authentication/sync within the browser?

Notice that Firefox instead works just fine, i.e. it does not appear in the third-party app list, nor it generates an unknown entry.
I understand perhaps this is not the best place to get help on this issue.

Why would Firefox be listed as a thirdparty app? It's a browser and it's using purely the website interface.
This is entirely different from Google Chrome and Chromium, which have lots of code embedded in the browser runtime itself in order to authenticate very specifically to Google Accounts due to the fact that your extensions, browsing history, saved passwords and form fills, etc. etc. etc. and furthermore also etc. are in fact Google Accounts data and used in order to provide a Google Experience for the Google Apps known as Google Chrome and Chromium.
Chromium has, since as long as I can remember, appeared as a thirdparty app at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions and I'm completely bewildered and blindsided by the idea that anyone would ever think it would *not* show up there.
If this support thread is the story of how you learned that Google Chrome is developed By Google Inc. then I will be very depressed.

I knew and agree with what you say, but I still maintain that Chromium did not appear in my 3rd party list nor as Unknown until recently, I don't know why.
I suppose it is related to what you call 'google experience' recently becoming mandatory (i.e. no way of signing out of it, without also signing out of e.g. Gmail in the browser).

I don't think that should be the case. (Never used Chromium for anything more than stubborn pages that just won't load in firefox) Most likely you enabled synchronization for chromium and logged in with yout google account. Signing out can be done in "chrome://settings/people".

Thanks progandy, it was indeed in the advanced options where you mentioned:
Allow Chromium sign-in
By turning this off, you can sign in to Google sites like Gmail without signing in to ChromiumOffline
