KDE Plasma's default language

Hi,

I have installed the Plasma desktop a number of times and it has always installed in English as the default language. When I recently installed Plasma on a fresh clean Arch build, it installed with Russian as the default language. I don't speak Russian, so it's a guess based on the Cyrillic text. I am not actually in Russia and I am sure I have set my locale correctly.

How does Plasma know which language to install as a default and how can I force an English installation?

Thanks,

L.

Re: KDE Plasma's default language

localectl
locale
locale -a

You could upload a screenshot so somebody might tell whether that's russian or just stuff using the wrong codepoints.
Are only KDE applications affected or everything?

Re: KDE Plasma's default language

Try this:

nano ~/.config/plasma-localerc

and change:

[Formats]
LANG=something

to "something" you want to (for English it should be en_GB.UTF-8 or for American: en_US.UTF-8). After new session of Plasma it should be in English/American.
