[SOLVED] WiFi broken: iwlwifi: BIOS contains WGDS but no WRDS

I changed my wifi router the other day and accordingly changed the SSID name and password in my netctl profile. Upon restarting, it wouldn't connect, and checking journalctl -xe or dmesg | grep iwlwifi showed:

>DATE HOSTNAME kernel: iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: BIOS contains WGDS but no WRDS

I can use a separate netctl profile to connect with my phone. Things I've tried:

-Using wpa_supplicant instead of netctl, throws the same error
-Using a bare config file with wpa_supplicant that doesn't include the network to connect to, throws the same error
-Upgrading linux-firmware to latest, along with everything else on the system with pacman -Syu
-Overwriting linux-firmware with the AUR package linux-firmware-iwlwifi-git

And here, a few relevant links, the only ones I could find:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202085 and https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10745061/ - a vaguely related patch
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10677577/ - the bug that implemented this, but I cannot determine what SAR or SAR Geo are

I still cannot connect to my internet. I'm using an Intel 8260 wireless chipset. What's up? Thanks for any assistance.

Re: [SOLVED] WiFi broken: iwlwifi: BIOS contains WGDS but no WRDS

Welcome to the arch linux forums qxu21.
linux-firmware 20190118.a8b75ca-1 contains the firmware update referenced in https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/10745061/
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202085 after the fix is applied contains the output "BIOS contains WGDS but no WRDS"
What is the full dmesg output and can you find in the journal the kernel messages from a successful connection to the router you previously used?

Full dmesg: https://ghostbin.com/paste/jd8zo

Sadly, I can't reconnect to my old router as it's been replaced with the new one and I can't switch it back.

Re: [SOLVED] WiFi broken: iwlwifi: BIOS contains WGDS but no WRDS

Feb 15 22:15:25 genesis dhcpcd[1771]: wlp4s0: probing address 192.168.43.123/24
Feb 15 22:15:30 genesis dhcpcd[1771]: wlp4s0: leased 192.168.43.123 for 3600 seconds
Feb 15 22:15:30 genesis dhcpcd[1771]: wlp4s0: adding route to 192.168.43.0/24
Feb 15 22:15:30 genesis dhcpcd[1771]: wlp4s0: adding default route via 192.168.43.39

You have a carrier, an IP and a route…

Feb 15 22:15:38 genesis dhcpcd[2086]: main: control_open: Permission denied

Attempted to run dhcpcd as user…

Feb 15 22:15:49 genesis sudo[2087]: qxu21 : TTY=pts/0 ; PWD=/home/qxu21 ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/dhcpcd

… and figured that doesn't work ;-)

The log does not indicate connection issues at all.
Can you ping 192.168.43.39? What about 8.8.8.8?

Re: [SOLVED] WiFi broken: iwlwifi: BIOS contains WGDS but no WRDS

Formatting fixed.

The internet works perfectly fine on unsecured wifi, that's what the above output is from, it's using wpa_supplicant (or netctl profiles, which I believe use wpa_supplicant under the hood) that throws

kernel: iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: BIOS contains WGDS but no WRDS
kernel: IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlp4s0: link is not ready

Please post the full output from an attempt using WPA_supplicant#Connecting_with_wpa_passphrase

Re: [SOLVED] WiFi broken: iwlwifi: BIOS contains WGDS but no WRDS

UPDATE: I misspelled my SSID, like an idiot. It started working once I used the correct SSID. Thread over, thanks everybody.
