[SOLVED]Correct way to remove/uninstall the GNOME desktop environment?

[SOLVED]

* Please move this thread to the appropriate forum if needed, I posted it on here instead of Applications & Desktop Environments because I thought this was a very easy question to answer and I am new here.

Hello all,

I would like to uninstall the GNOME desktop environment and try a new desktop environment. I would like to know the correct way to uninstall GNOME, I don't want to break anything by accident. Thank you

How did you install GNOME in the first place?

Remove either the packages or package group you specified when you installed gnome.
If you then install a different environment you might then be reinstalling packages you just removed.
You can have multiple desktop environments installed on a system.

These are entirely orthogonal goals.  There is no need to remove gnome to try other DEs.  Are you sure you want to remove gnome?

Installed the

gnome

and

gnome-extra

packages. Enabled the gdm service after then rebooted.

Thanks, I will do this. I'll post an update when I'm done or I have any problems.
Edit: I meant installing a new DE without removing GNOME for clarification.

Edit2: That worked. Thanks, didn't know you could have 2 DE's installed at the same time easily. TIL

Then you just install a new DE, without removing gnome.  Follow the wiki page for the DE you want to use.
