unable to extract the tarball archlinux-bootstrap image

Hello,
I downloaded archlinux-bootstrap-2019.02.01-x86_64.tar.gz and  i am trying to extract it with :

tar xzf archlinux-bootstrap-2019.02.01-x86_64.tar.gz

As mentioned here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … ting_Linux .
This results in "Cannot open: Permission denied" errors :

Re: unable to extract the tarball archlinux-bootstrap image

Did you run the command as root and from which folder ?

Multi-init booting with apg Openrc and systemd coexisting
Automounting : not needed, i prefer pmount
Aur helpers : makepkg + my own local repo === rarely need them

A hash (#) at the start of the command means "run this as root".

Re: unable to extract the tarball archlinux-bootstrap image

Thank you for your answers. I do not run this as root.
This is used as part of a script and worked fine without using root user with https://archive.archlinux.org/iso/2018.11.01/ .
I tested again with 2018.11.01 image and it works without a root user.
Was it working by chance and should only work as a root user ?

I don't know what changed between then and now, but if you don't run it as root, permissions will not be correct on the extracted files -- they will all be owned by your user and primary group, rather than root. This has always been the case.
