w3m images not working in Terminator and Gnome Terminal

I've found that w3m image display works on terminals such as rxvt-unicode and Xfce terminal(even with transparency on), but not on Terminator(my default terminal) and Gnome terminal. I've been testing it using:

w3m google.com

and also using ranger.

Is there some option that I've to enable on Terminator/Gnome terminal to enable image display? Or is it that they do not support image display at all? Some have reported image display to work on these terminals, so I'm not sure.
