Segmentation Fault: Gentoo File Manager (+ Openbox)

Segmentation Fault: Gentoo File Manager (pacman -S gentoo)

Has anybody else experienced this?  That quick flash on the screen, and no file manager appearing...

Any tips appreciated...

I'm running Openbox, though I'd be surprised if that mattered.

Regards

gentoo starts fine here. Start it in a terminal to see if there is an error message. BTW, is your system up-to-date?

Re: Segmentation Fault: Gentoo File Manager (+ Openbox)

Yes, it's a new installation (FTP, 2.6 kernel), less than a week old.

The error displayed in the terminal is "Segmentation Fault".  That is the only error message.

I wonder if it's related to a GTK configuration problem.  The only other GTK1 app that I'm running is XMMS, and when launching XMMS I get "Gdk-Warning **: Missing charsets in FontSet creation".  Though I suppose that would have more to do with the disabled bitmap fonts in the default Arch Xorg installation.

I don't get that warning when starting xmms. And it seems to be related to fonts. If you use a non-english locale, make sure that you have all the needed fonts installed.

It could also be a gtk config issue, try renaming your ~/.gtkrc and then starting gentoo.

en_CA.utf8

.gtkrc exists, but is empty.

We're agreed it's probably a font issue... I'll play with that.

Thanks for the support!
