Hi, I have never posted here and am not totally familiar with all the log files and such so please request any information you may require if I have left it out.
I have just installed Arch with Linux version 4.19.26-1-lts.
My computer has a Nvidia graphics card and an Intel integrated card
I have installed bbswitch-dkms, bumblebee, xf86-video-intel and nvidia-dkms installed.
I previously had xf86-vide-nouveau instead of nvidia-dkms however `optirun` from bumblebee wasn't working correctly and now does with nvidia-dkms driver.
If I run startx after logging in, it will freeze and I cant do anything and have to power off.
If I first run `sudo tee /proc/acpi/bbswitch <<<ON` which should enable the Nvidia graphics card then `startx` works fine.
The problem is I am having is I can't figure out how to debug as no log is created at ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log if it freezes, only on success it seems.
All of this make me think that maybe X is using the Nvidia card which I do not want. I would like to be able to run applications using the Nvidia card using `optirun` but otherwise should run on the Intel integrated graphics.

You didn't read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bu … stallation and whatever your arch derivate is, it doesn't enable bumblebeed for you…

What exactly do you mean, "it doesn't enable bumblebee for you" bumblebee works fine for me once X is started. The problem is I can't start X unless the Nvidia card is enabled. I was under the impression that I should be able to run X on solely the Intel integrated graphics.

It is already enabled, I have to trouble with it as I keep saying

Sorry, I reverse logic'd your situation w/ the usual error.
Post your xinitrc and "ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf*"
Also "dmesg" and "lsmod" *before* activating the nvidia chip.
You can use https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pastebin
Does the system hang if you "lspci" w/o the nvidia chip activated?
Offline
Xinitrc is just `exec xmonad`
If I run `lspci` without the nvidia activated it is fine, however `lspci -k` will hang just like `startx`
I don't have any file located at etc/X11/xorg.conf* but I do have some stuff located at /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf* which is named 10-evdev.conf which I think comes from xf86-input-evdev package I installed to get keyboard and mouse input working.
Here is dmesg https://pastebin.com/EQsSMi0r
And here is lsmod https://pastebin.com/TMsZ0L0g

Have just realized the pastebin things seem to have cut off the start of both outputs. I will fix this when I have access to my computer again.

I've dealt with similar issues on my Sager NP7851 (Clevo N850EP6) and found this thread to be useful https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/Bu … issues/764
This hasn't resolved all of my issues, I'm still dealing with weird stuff but it's gotten things to a manageable state. Hopefully this helps you.

It's not related, but please sanitize your xinitrc, see the second note: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinit#xinitrc
It would very much seem that Xorg freezes the kernel on its pci probing (not to actually use the device, but to check what's there)
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … pci_hangs)
For a wild guess on top, add thse parameters to the kernel commandline at your bootloader:
intel_iommu=off iommu=soft pci=noacpiYou could configure the system to use the intel chip w/ a static server config (bumblebee should use its own) adding the intel device to the screen section (so you'll use the intel chip despite the nvidia one being powerd on) - perhaps you'll have to add the nvidia device and add it as
Inactive "nvidia-identifier"to the screen.

As mentioned in the pci freezing article and the issue on bumblbee. Adding acpi_osi=! And acpi_osi="Windows 2009" seems to have fixed it for now.
I can start, run lspci and lspci -k as well as optirun and confirm the status is off otherwise
