[SiS] 671/771 can't get xorg to work.

I am a newcomer in the Arch world and my guinea pig is an old laptop with the notorious SiS 671/771 chipset. I made a complete installation of the OS + the corresponding xf86-video-sis but I had no luck in making it work. Whenever I startx, I either get a distorted crt-like artifacts (without xorg.conf) and/or an xinit: unable to connect to X server: connection refused (with xorg.conf)

Welcome to the forums.  There are several specific steps required according to the wiki page.  It looks like you are using the lts kernel with the required kernel parameter already, but you didn't specify if/how you modified your Xorg.conf.  Can you please post the content of any xorg conf files?

And do you specifically load the sis-agp module before starting X?
