Odd, the guy that took over the project made it seem dead for ages. o.o I suppose I will see what is new. ^_^

openbox doesn't have many releases, but the cvs is pretty active. I think Mikachu doesn't like making releases until there are really important changes.
It's a simple WM... there's really not all that much to be improved

Hello fluorite, welcome to the Arch Linux Forums!
Seems like the perfect time for me to try out OB...
Haven't been here in a while. Still rocking Arch.

Sadly, it breaks obconf and obtune.
for a quick fix cd into /usr/lib and do
ln -s libobrender.so.0.4.0 libobrender.so.1
ln -s libobparser.so.0.4.0 libobparser.so.1

Yeah I had to rebuild obconf ... pango maybe? ... but obconf works honest

FWIW, there's a bug report here.

Does anyone know, what these options from rc.xml causes:
edges_hit_layers_below (resistance section),
hideDisabled (theme section)??

No idea.
For my part... has anyone noticed that menu centering (on by default) seems to make the menus a bit sluggish?

hideDisabled = hide buttons if they are not usable e.g if you cant maximize it will hide it.
edges_hit_layers_below = and that is about snapping to boader.

Works resize in the four corners?
i have "<fourCorners>yes</fourCorners>" in rc.xml but doesn't work, only work the top -left and right- corners.

in your openbox theme change this line
window.handle.width: 0
to
window.handle.width: 2
or any number higher then 0.

What does this function do? :?
Is there s.th. like a list or anything else where all new features are described?

Seems like the perfect time for me to try out OB...
I know that it's kind of sad to quote myself, but...
Since I tried out Openbox3.3 I never used xfce again. After I found the perfect Gnu/Linux distro (guess which one! ;-) ) 2 years ago it was really great to find a WM that fits my needs as good as openbox does. Mikachu seems to keep openbox that clean and KISS as it is atm and I'm very impressed by rezza's and cimi's work on gtk-engines/ob-themes. (Ok, the gtk-stuff has nothing to do with ob directly, but anyway...)

Which openbox version can you prefer? Official repo, or smoons or AUR? :?

detto: I've just startet to use openbox (2 weeks ago) and I'm using the version out of the official repo atm. Maybe if I'm bored some day - or there's a new feature I really have to use - i'll switch to a more bleeding edge repo/PKGBUILD. What's the difference between smoon's and the official repo? Is smoon going to build svn-builds of openbox? (Or is he already?)
