pypanel keeps setting its clock to UTC, how to override?

ok this is frustrating.  in gnome, the clock is fine as CST.  i head over into openbox and the clock in pypanel is set to UTC.  how can i make it read CST?? thanks for any help..

"export TZ=CST" might prod it to do the right thing

Did you set it in /etc/rc.conf?
