Reached target Powert-Off. -> But does not actually power off.

In the last few days my laptop sometimes does not power off.

The shutdown performs normally. There is no indication of warnings or errors on the display. (And none in the log files) The last few lines that are printed to the screen are:

…
Reached target Unmount All Filesystems.
Reached target Final Step.
Started Power-Off.
Reached target Power-Off.

System info:

$ uname -a
Linux thinkpad 5.0.0-arch1-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Mar 4 14:11:43 UTC 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux

What can I do to solve this issue ?

Experiencing the same issue here , although the laptop will switch off after a while (few minutes).

It seems there is a 100 sec delay but I couldn't determine who is taking this time. Any suggestion ?

Update: I just found this topic that seems very similar to what we observe.

Re: Reached target Powert-Off. -> But does not actually power off.

[ 104.476030] systemd-shutdown[1]: Sending SIGKILL to remaining processes...
[  104.479680] systemd-shutdown[1]: Sending SIGKILL to PID 325 (lvmetad).

Yes this is likely the same issue, lvmetad is blocking. See the following earlier thread as well
