Applications run as sudo, but not as regular user

Hello,

I've been having this issue where many applications on my installation do not run correctly as a regular user that I've created. If I try to run them as sudo, they work just fine, but I need to run certain applications as the user. Applications like OBS don't even open at all unless if I run them as sudo. RuneLite just gets stuck at Preparing Audio Device UNLESS if I run it as sudo. I NEED to run these applications as a regular user. Where can I look to start resolving this issue? ACL's or maybe I didn't create the regular user correctly?

I suspect that you didn't add your user to the audio and video groups. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Users_and_groups

Re: Applications run as sudo, but not as regular user

Seems to revolve around audio, does it?

Ouptut of

loginctl show-session $XDG_SESSION_ID
id

Edit, @rowdog: this should no longer be necessary but you require an active session and an ACL capable FS - it's most likely an invlid session and then this should be fixed because it brings more problems.
