I did something weird. After having used and gotten pretty comfortable with a i3wm workflow - I felt like trying gnome once again. Maybe could be kept alongside i3 - had been a gnome fanboy since my ubuntu days.
But the moment I logged into a gnome session I realized how natural i3 has become for me and I didn't want to unlearn that. So I executed "sudo pacman -Runs gnome". Reinstalled my bluez packages back and got back into i3.
Everything fine - except for one thing.
My i3 config used to autostart compton with
compton -b -d :0. Now it doesn't anymore. I get the following instead:
compton: ../compton/src/log.h:79: log_get_level_tls: Assertion `tls_logger' failed.
[1] 5165 abort sudo compton -b -d :0However
compton -bstill works.
I figured out my current X Session display number using
1.
ps e -u <username> | sed -rn 's/.* DISPLAY=(:[0-9]*).*/\1/p'( Source )

cat /proc/$pid/environ | tr '\0' '\n' | grep '^DISPLAY=' -- (here $pid is any process number running in user session. Source)
MY OUTPUT:
DISPLAY=:0I am stumped as to what my next step should be if I need to get this working.
I am planning to configure multihead soon. I recon this might pose a problem as it stands at the moment.

Why do you get a "sudo compton" error? Are you attempting to run compton as root? don't run compton as root. How are you starting i3?

When I had the command failing on me I had obviously tried it with root as well. I carelessly copied the error for that above. My bad. Please find the non-root command execution output below:-
compton: ../compton/src/log.h:79: log_get_level_tls: Assertion `tls_logger' failed.
[1] 3476 abort (core dumped) compton -b -d :0I start i3 at login with
startxin my
~/.zprofilewhich in turn runs
exec i3from my
~/.xinitrcOffline
To fix this issue, try remove the "-d :0" option, it looks this option already deleted if you look at the man page of compton.
