Ever since the kernel 5.0.0 upgrade (although not sure directly related) my laptop has been suffering from random freezes, my WM is i3 + compton.
The freezes happen during normal application usage, nothing specific seems to trigger them. When they occur, the entire system is unresponsive and the mouse/keyboard don't work. Usually the freeze ends after a few seconds so it's hard for me to test network connectivity etc.
I'd love to post logs, but there's nothing out of the ordinary on dmesg / journalctl / Xorg.log - so I'm totally lost on how to debug these problems.

I forgot to mention I'm using the modesetting driver, and not xf86-video-intel, so not sure how this helps me. Is there any equivalent?
Edit: but also didn't RTFW, will try
LIBGL_DRI3_DISABLE=1

DRI2 also has some weird glitches, so I decided to revert back to DRI3. In the meantime I saw a new compton update, which possibly makes things a bit better.
