those people who are using mutt, how do you get new mail notification (when not using mutt, that is). I use getmail in a cronjob, so I would like to know when new mail is available without opening mutt.
and also is sending mails through ssmtp secure?, Is there a way to have it ask for a password each time I try to send a mail?

If any, I'd use evolution but I'll just stick with epiphany + gmail. Less moving around my mail has to do the better. In fact, the only thing I send through a process is my gcal gets forwarded to the gnome clock applet.

The same thing I use under Windows - Opera mail pop3/smtp/IMAP client (gmail account)

Good question actually, i still haven't figured that out. I use mutt+vim on my gmail account. I also have pidgin AND my cell phone connected to my gmail account, so I know what mails i have (both pidgin and my cell are configured to only download the headers thus i have to use mutt to actually read it).
As far as the password thing goes, i actually have it set up that way, i can't figure out how to have it NOT ask me for a password everytime i send an email. O well. Although I would like to know how to have it not ask me a password for sending (it never does for reading i have set that up though).

Note: my cell has unlimited email+internet, so i have imap set up on it.

Evolution on my desktop and Claws-mail on the laptop, I started using claws on the laptop for hardware restraints, but now I'm thinking of using it on the desktop too, the only problem is that I like evolution's calendar too

I'm honestly in love with Gmail. I have several accounts that I've already configured to label and sort them when the come in. I love it because I use Google Reader too and it all flows well together.
Something witty.

Claws Mail, easy to use and configure, reasonably fast and with a ton of plugin

GMail's Web Interphase
I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

I use Claws-Mail. The only one that fits all my needs. It's so configurable and extentable.
