Following the upgrade to compton 6.2-2 I am seeing extremely high CPU usage when running on an external display. This is using the default configuration in /etc/xdg/compton.conf. I am using a ThinkPad w520 with a NVIDIA Quadro 2000M GPU, which is running on an external display through mini-DisplayPort via intel-virtual-output. When I roll back to version 5.1.-1 my CPU use and temperatures drop back down to sensible levels. I can also fix the problem by switching to the xrender backend (rather than glx). However, glx works fine with the previous version so I don't see this as a valid solution.
Any idea as to what might have changed? Perhaps I need to adjust an option in the config.
