Hi everyone,
I have a laptop with italian layout. I just bought an international layout keyboard, so I wanted to switch to us layout.
With italian layout altgr works perfectly, but when I switch to us layout it does not work anymore.
I use i3wm, so I cannot rely on desktop environment facilities.
It does not work both on tty and x11.
My keyboard is the anne pro 2 if it could help.
here I post some command outputs:
$ cat /etc/vconsole.conf
KEYMAP=us$ localectl status
System Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8
VC Keymap: us
X11 Layout: n/a$ setxkbmap -print -verbose 10
Setting verbose level to 10
locale is C
Trying to load rules file ./rules/evdev...
Trying to load rules file /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev...
Success.
Applied rules from evdev:
rules: evdev
model: pc105

Trying to build keymap using the following components:
keycodes: evdev+aliases(qwerty)
types: complete

symbols: pc+us+inet(evdev)
geometry: pc(pc105)
xkb_keymap {
xkb_keycodes { include "evdev+aliases(qwerty)" };
xkb_types { include "complete" };
xkb_compat { include "complete" };
xkb_symbols { include "pc+us+inet(evdev)" };
xkb_geometry { include "pc(pc105)" };
};$ locale -a

The us layout has no 3rd level shift (AltGr), but the international variant has.
setxkbmap -layout us -variant altgr-intl
