Brother printer driver

I love Arch Linux and won't change to a different distro, but after a kernel upgrade from the mainstream, the driver for my Brother mfc-l2700dw quit working. The developer in the AUR has abandoned maintaining this driver. I made an attempt on packaging the deb drivers from Brother and even that won't work. I have Windows 10 and Debian 9 multibooted and refer to either if I have a print job. Will anyone pick this driver up and redevelop, or upgrade the current driver so it can be used on Arch? Unfortunately I am not a developer. Any ideas on how I can get this up and running again?

Re: Brother printer driver

I have the Brother mfc-l2700dw and I just printed out this page using it on the latest kernel. What have you done to check the server status? Have you looked at CUPS?

Re: Brother printer driver

In defense of the package maintainer, I would note that the Brother driver has not been updated since 2015 and the PKGBUILD in the AUR uses the current version. Brother has discontinued the MFC-L2700DW printer, so if anyone abandoned anything I suspect it would be them.
