I just bought thinkpad e585, which has ryzen cpu and vega graphics. When booting to my flash drive, and selecting to boot to archiso I am greeted by a black screen. The monitor is on, and so seems to be everything else. There is nothing I can do other than shutting it off.
I torrented the .iso file from https://www.archlinux.org/download/ and verified it with the checksums. Then I installed it to my flash drive with dd https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … a#Using_dd.
I have thinkpad e585 with ryzen 5 2500u and vega 10 graphics. The hardware should be supported: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/La … o#E_series.
I've disabled secure boot, and other secure stuff from bios in testing purposes, tried other usb-ports, tried switching between uefi and legacy boot. Not working, except when legacy booting enabled, it won't go black screen, but it'll show some kind of kernel panic error message.
---[ end Kernel panic - not syncing: timer doesn't work through Interrupt-remapped IO-APIC ]---EDIT:
I figured it out, I had to just add noapic to the kernel parameters when booting
