From Gnome to Deepin DE: emojis and accents

Hi all,

I recently switched from Gnome to Deepin desktop environment and I currently miss these two functionalities:

- ability to insert emojis in the text I'm typing
- ability to insert accents in the text I'm typing

Do you know a way I can achieve the above in Deepin?

EDIT
In Gnome I was using the compose key for typing accents and a Gnome extension for entering Emojis.

With your keyboard…?

The reason that you've not received an answer is that you've not at all explained how you even expect to enter this, whether your keyboard layout is off, you lack deadkeys, a compose key feature, a silly point and click input dialog…
It also matters *a lot* whether this is on wayland or xorg.

Also what have you done to fix this yourself? Did you read the keyboard config and deepin related wiki pages?

Hi seth,

Thank you for your reply. You're right. I just edited the first post with some details about how I was doing that on Gnome. Please let me know if you have any advice.

You've not specified the display server… for X11 see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xo … ompose_key
I'd also assume gnome extensions stand a good chance to work on deepin because the latter is just some gnome fork (at least on the desktop level, I understand that somebody figured it would be important to mix a gtk3 desktop shell w/ some qt5 tools because one can never have to maintain enough toolkits…)

Thank you Seth! I've managed to copy the same behaviour of the compose key in Gnome with the following command.

localectl --no-convert set-x11-keymap us "" "" compose:ralt

I'll look into Gnome extensions on Deepin for the Emoji selector.
