Using VirtualBox on OS Mojave to run a 64 bit Arch Linux Operating System.
I'd like to use `pacman` development tools to install a package from the AUR, however I don't have `pacman` installed. Running `pacman` returns `command not found`.
I found post online about compiling pacman from source. I tried that, but I don't have a C compiler (`gcc` is not installed). So I looked up how to install `gcc` and the obvious answer is `pacman` - which is not installed. :[
The name of this corner of the forums has me feeling slightly better. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ![]()

Welcome to the boards
Which ISO did you use to install Arch Linux and which instructions did you follow to install Arch Linux?

Unfortunately I'm not following any instructions and I'm not sure which ISO it is. I just created a new VM using VirtualBox and used their default image for an Arch Linux 64 bit server.
Checked in /usr/bin/pacman and there's nothing there. I think my $PATH is set up correctly, I've got `/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/apps/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin`.

Have you considered starting over following VirtualBox#Installation_steps_for_Arch_Linux_guests?

VirtualBox doesn't provide installation images, you need to download the iso yourself from here and then follow the Installation Guide on the wiki to install Arch. No other methods are supported here.

Thanks for the help! I ended up starting over with vagrant. Worked like a charm. Appreciate the info and the patience ![]()
