Remaping Keys

Hello, I am pretty new and I have a blank key that I want to use as mod4 for sway.
I currently have an xmodmap file at the bottom, but it doesnt seem to do anything.
The key I want to remap has a keycode of 86 and a keysym of 70064.

clear mod4
keycode 86 = Super_L
add mod4 = Super_L

Re: Remaping Keys

The main issue is that sway is built on Wayland and not X, so xmodmap doesn't affect it. Instead, these kinds of things are typically done in sway's configuration file (details on their wiki), which is the method that I have used to switch layouts. Unfortunately, it does not appear that sway supports arbitrary mappings (perhaps you or others can dig up additional info).

My guess is that your best bet is to create a custom xkb map. This stackexchange post may serve as a good starting point.

Exactly. Maybe a keyboard layout editor can help as well: https://github.com/hupfdule/keyboardlayouteditor
