I use video player mplayer. I start player from terminal emulator by command:
mplayer -sub subtitles.srt -subcp UTF-8 movie_name.mkv
Instead of letters 'ř' or 'ě' (from Czech language) '_' is displayed in subtitles.
After command:
enca -L czech subtitles.srt
I get:
Universal transformation format 8 bits; UTF-8
So subtitles file format is correct.
Does anyone know how to fix it?

Maybe choosing a different font could fix this?
Also, check out 'mpv'. It's a fork of mplayer. It might behave differently.

Changing font solved the problem:
-font 'Arial'
Thanks
