[solved] Issues setting backlight on T440

I have a weird issue on my T440.

I use LXQT and do so happily except for that it won't let me set backlight via keys.

If I open

lxqt-config-brightness

and manually set it in the window, it will adjust the backlight just fine.

HOWEVER

If I try to use the built-in commands to set backlight using it I get the following output:

[matt@host ~]$ lxqt-config-brightness -i 10%
(0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: No outputs have backlight property
 (0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Found output: "eDP-1"
 (0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Output: "eDP-1" added
 (0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Found output: "DP-1"
(0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Output is not connected
 (0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Found output: "HDMI-1"
(0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Output is not connected
 (0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Found output: "DP-2"
(0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Output is not connected
 (0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Found output: "HDMI-2"
(0x7ffe672bae90) Debug: Output is not connected

I tried using xbacklight, but it gives me the same issue.

[matt@host ~]$ xbacklight -inc 10
No outputs have backlight property

I looked up Backlight on the Arch Wiki about making a config file with the appropriate folder from /sys/class/backlight in it, but with that config file, the X server simply refuses to start.

I have no idea what to do.

The backlight settings are obviously communicated to the X server since I can manually set the backlight with the scroller. But apparently not properly since neither xbacklight or lxqt-config-brightness can set the backlight using terminal commands.

EDIT: installed the xf86-video-intel package and everything worked. Didn't check for video drivers since I thought installing the group "xorg" pulled those too.
