Mythtv: can not connect to backend

Hi, for a while now (several months) I am having some intermittent problems with my mythtv frontend not connecting to the backend. They are on separate computers with static IPs (wired connection).

When this occurs, both computers can ping each other and when I check the status of the mythbackend service, i.e.

systemctl status mythbackend

Everything appears to be fine.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Restarting the service usually resolves the issue.

You should probably start by checking the logs for both your frontend and backend.  You can record frontend logs with "mythfrontend -l file.log".  According to the MythTV wiki (General Troubleshooting), backend logs can be viewed with cat:

cat /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log
cat /var/log/syslog
cat /var/log/mysqld/mysqld.log
