[SOLVED] Monitor with HDMI freeze at startup

Hi!

I try to configure my monitor (AOC U3277PQU) to use on 4K@60fps with HDMI 2.0. Only 30fps i can get.

My vga is an intel uhd630.

Tried to get the EDID information with get-edid, but it shows a totally unrelevant resolution.

Tried to configure the resolution with  xrandr. It does do nothing.

Now trying to configure in the xorg-conf.d.

Here is my .conf file:

When i try to boot with this config, my monitor's picture freeze at startup. The OS can handle the monitor, e.g.: i can move window to it, i3wm give a desktop to it.

Xorg.0.log shows nothing, no error... Dmesg too...

What i am missing?

Thanks,

Re: [SOLVED] Monitor with HDMI freeze at startup

You'll need a "HDMI Premium High Speed" cable (unfortunately that marketing bullshit is the relevant version tag…)
The supported resolution would be typical for 1.4b or "HDMI High Speed" (same problem) cables.

You can also try to create a modeline w/ reduced blanking (cvt -r), but if there's no actual 2.0 support or your cable isn't "premium" (i can't believe I'm writing this…) you'd end up driving the HW out of spec even then.

Re: [SOLVED] Monitor with HDMI freeze at startup

Thanks for your reply!

I found a "high speed" hdmi cabel (gold plated, with ethernet support) but no luck. Reduced blanking failed too.

My laptop is a new Latitude, so i am am thinking about an usb-c -> DisplayPort cable. Could it be a possible solution?

Re: [SOLVED] Monitor with HDMI freeze at startup

Gold won't help, you need a cable tagged "*premium* high speed" - or DP 1.2 w/ 4 links or 1.3 /2 links and usb 3.1

Re: [SOLVED] Monitor with HDMI freeze at startup

Yeah, i know that gold soesn't help smile
So, the usb-c -> Display Port arrived and it solved my problem out-of-the-box.
My usb-c support Display Port 1.2, so i dedicated that port to the monitor.
I feel sad a bit because at the main page of my dell laptop shows that i have hdmi 2.0, but the laptop's manual say it doesn't, only 1.4 (which is only 4k@30).
Anyway, thanks for your help smile

Cool.
Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
