[SOLVED] gnome 4k HiDPI xrandr

Hello,

I am using AMD Radeon HD 5450 and 4k DELL P4317Q display until now through VGA. Αfter many failed attempts to enable DisplayPort, I'm continually getting "no signal" and xrandr returns only WAYLAND FHD (only one resolution).

Today I just have installed xf86-video-amdgpu and updates (normal update procedure pacman -Syu) and then reboot. Luckily xrandr was able to return all ports (a list with VGA, DP and DVI resolutions) and finally to set up the resolution over DP-1. After reboot I've lost all display settings (dropped to VGA) and xrandr returns nothing but WAYLAND.

How can I troubleshoot and fix this?
Thanks in advance

Use GNOMEs tools to configure your screen, if you actually want to switch to xorg, GDM should have an option to switch to Gnome on Xorg, or https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GD … rg_backend

Mod note: Not a kernel or hardware issue moving to NC

Hi V1del, your feedback is much appreciated, so apparently WaylandEnable=false will drop me on Xorg backend and xrandr will return all ports/resolutions?

That setting only affects GDM, you'll still be able to select a wayland session, so please use "gnome on xorg".
xrandr on wayland will operate on a virtual X11 server (xwayland) and there's no real access to your HW, just some emulated response to prevent X11 clients from crashing.

Re: [SOLVED] gnome 4k HiDPI xrandr

Thanks a bunch, right, xwayland is actually a compatibility option (wayland compositor environment) instead of the core rendering system (and for unported applications).
