Pamac endless loop

Hi,

I've been neglecting this issue for months now, tried several things like reinstalling or removing some specific packages (gstreamer), but nothing worked. My system is up to date, I'm using the latest kernel.

Problem : Whenever I try to update or install any package through pamac it will go through an endless loop of dependencies downloading switching from one to another without downloading anything really.

Typical message I'd get is :

Synchronizing package databases...
Starting full system upgrade...
Resolving dependencies...
Checking inter-conflicts...

Downloading file (5.37-1-x86_64)...
Downloading geoclue (2.5.3-1-x86_64)...
Downloading js60 (60.6.3-1-x86_64)...
Downloading libxfce4util (4.13.3-1-x86_64)...
Downloading js60 (60.6.3-1-x86_64)...
Downloading libxfce4util (4.13.3-1-x86_64)...
Downloading js60 (60.6.3-1-x86_64)...
Downloading file (5.37-1-x86_64)...
Downloading geoclue (2.5.3-1-x86_64)...

I don't see any particular log related to this in the journal, and can't figure how to look up for the source of this problem.

Any help would be very appreciated !

Re: Pamac endless loop

Is your issue similar to what is described in j0hannes comment on the pamac-aur page ?

upstream currently lists 59 open issues, have you checked if yours is among them ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: Pamac endless loop

As far as I have seen, go into settings and change the maximum parallel downloads to 0 (zero).

Re: Pamac endless loop

I can confirm that the solution that lotw01 describes works. I am running pamac version 8.03 and it has no problems with endless download loops when max parallel downloads is set to 0. Obviously this is masking an underlying issue, but at least it is functional :-)
Also, this issue was discussed and closed with the mentioned work-around in discussion #247511. I guess this one can can be closed as well :-)
