I'm running pulseaudio on a fresh installation of Arch Linux and when I plug in a Unitek USB sound card, pavucontrol does not detect it. Here is the dmesg output:

[minato@konoha ~]$ sudo modprobe snd-usb-audio
modprobe: FATAL: Module snd-usb-audio not found in directory /lib/modules/5.1.3-arch1-1-ARCHI'm running pacman -Syu right now
EDIT: Restarting my laptop makes the sound card detected, probably there is a problem with hotplugging usb sound card. There is a thing about that in the wiki, so I'm not closing this yet

If you run a system update including the kernel, it's modules are overriden with the new modules from a new kernel. If you now do an action that would mandate the kernel to load a new module, your running, old kernel will not find it's modules anymore. You are always advised to reboot after kernel updates.
