Problems with firefox in xfce

I'm not sure if this is a firefox or xfce's fault, but when I try to open a file or a folder (open containing folder) from the download manager in firefox it does nothing.

Any clue?

Re: Problems with firefox in xfce

When you click open containing folder from the download manager firefox launches the default file browser. Firefox doesn't seem to know what your file browser is. It's an issue of firefox not being built to work specifically with the XFCE environment. It opens Natulius just fine if you're using Gnome. As far as getting your file manger registred with Firefox, I'm sure it's possible but I don't know how.

Re: Problems with firefox in xfce

I thought it was something like that. I've been googling for a while now and I can't find any solutions, hope someone else can help.

Thanks anyway

Re: Problems with firefox in xfce

Well...I don't know if this helps, but I use Firefox and xfce4, and I have no problem with downloads. I click on a link, and get a dialog saying "You have chosen to open <filename> which is <filetype> from <URL>. What should Firefox do with this file?" If I select "Save to Disk", I get a second dialog to select the directory to save it in. If the file takes more than a few seconds to get, the download manager pops up with a nice progress bar. I've never actually had to do anything from the dl manager - it just appears, does the progress bit, and then disappears.

If there's anything I can tell you about my setup, let me know,

Re: Problems with firefox in xfce

tomk,

He's referring to in the download manager, if you right click on a completed download you can select open file location. This will launch the default file manager at the location of the saved file. With XFCE, Firefox doesn't know what file manager to launch so nothing happens.
