Can I use pipewire with kde plasma and completely turn off pulseaudio?

As said in title, I want to use pipewire, jack and possibly alsa, is it possible to completely turn off pulseaudio?

Re: Can I use pipewire with kde plasma and completely turn off pulseaudio?

You can always completely turn off pulseaudio, though I don't know how well phonon's device listing will work with pipewire or if it will simply fall back to the ALSA card listing. You won't be able to use plasma-pa and I'm generally not sure if there are any good mixer applications yet.

What prevents you from simply trying it out?

FWIW from what I'm reading it doesn't sound like pipewire in general is where they want it to be regarding audio support and they mostly focused on video. gstreamer should work as far as possible, maybe jack clients, anything that uses ALSA or pulse API would likely not.

If this is really just about KDE at least playback should work via phonon-gstreamer however I'd assume many other things to bite you here before that.
