This is an issue that first occurred a few months ago after I re-installed Arch on my laptop with LUKS on LVM spanning on an NVMe SSD and an HDD.
The issue I'm experiencing is that whenever I start compiling AUR packages or I do a normal `pacman -Syu`, the system will start stuttering and I will experience full freezes for a second many times. I've also noticed this happens with audio as well - I'm using PulseEffects.
This issue hasn't happened before. Could it be caused by the LUKS on LVM setup? And is there a way to debug this so I can figure out what is going on and maybe fix it?
Thanks!

Have you tried linux-zen?
See https://liquorix.net/ for an overview of the benefits.

I will try it. And since I'm on a laptop and I'm not happy even with the current battery life, do you know how much of an impact this kernel will have over the battery life?

Not really, no, but I would be surprised if it made any difference at all.
Try https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Po … y_settings to save some battery.

Linux-ck is another option for responsiveness. I think both use MuQSS but not sure what else zen does. Linux-ck aims to be as similar to the Distro kernel config as possible. See my sig if you don't want to compile or the linux-ck and repo-ck wiki page.
