Ethernet connection not working

Greetings fellow users,

As stated in the topic, my ethernet connection doesn't seem to work and since I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to networking, I would very much appreciate assistance. This post may seem a duplicate of this one: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 2#p1753842
However, disabling IPv6 didn't fix my problem. I use NetworkManager and it  handles wifi with no problems.

Some info:

I tried to disable IPv6 to see if that would fix my problem. I created

/etc/sysctl.d/40-ipv6.conf

and inserted:

# Disable IPv6
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.enp4s0.disable_ipv6 = 1

There are a couple warnings in the NetworkManager journalctl entry but I don't understand what exactly the problem is, probably because I don't rightly understand what's going on under the networking hood. I would really appreciate some help.

On a side note: I have a VPN client running in the background which usually blocks internet connections when it's not on but even when I disable the thing, my connection won't work.

Re: Ethernet connection not working

You might confirm that you have a link light on your Nic and the port that it's connected to. You might also swap out the ethernet cable.

Did that, didn't help. The same ethernet cable and port work with another machine.
