Folder View Widget won't register Shortcut

My intention is that I want to keep my desktop clean so I could only my wallpaper, and whenever I want to go to my desktop folder I just have to hit a combination but when I assign a shortcut for this widget, it only works for the current session. After I log out or restart, the shortcut won't work anymore. I check the config file. The shortcut is in it but it just doesn't work. Any thought?

It's hard to imagine a post with less relevant information. I am guessing this is something about Gnome...
