I found a temporary solution by adding acpi=off to the grub boot options but the nvidia card stopped being used. works for now.
Also after some testing, the other monitor i talked about also had problems but instead of turning off it had a lot of visual artifacts
I'm having a very strange problem with my external monitor since i installed the nvidia proprietary drivers (i followed the optimus wiki guide).
The monitor starts completely black sometimes it flickers, but when i start to run some applications it starts working, if i close them it goes back to turning on and off or just goes completely black.
This monitor works fine on windows.
I have one older monitor that works fine on linux it only happens with this monitor.
I have no idea where to start to try to solve this i assume it's a problem with nvidia optimus and the graphics cards switching since when i stress the pc the monitor starts working.
I just need the nvidia drivers right? since they now support optimus or am i missing something.
thank for your time and help,
monitor: HP 2509m
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700HQ.
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (2GB GDDR5)
