[SOLVED] Steam cannot connect to steam network

Hey,

Steam was working fine until today when I booted the system, it just gives the error "Could not connect to steam network". I have tried "steam --reset" and running both in native and in runtime, leading to the same error. Steam is able to connect since when deleting the .local/share/Steam directory and prompted to introduce user, password and 2fa it detects those fields as correct.
I have also tried to reinstall steam and steam-native-runtime.

I'm running desktop computer with AMD R9 280X and i7 4770k.

Any idea on how could I find the root cause of this problem?

Try downgrading your kernel (plus any out-of-tree modules you depend on), or running steam with the -tcp flag.

I've been fighting this issue for 2 days. Linus posted a patch in the GitHub thread, I built a custom kernel and now it is working. Hopefully this patch gets moved into the kernel soon.

I downgraded my kernel to 4.19.53-1-lts and I'm still having this issue. is something else messed up? Also, running steam with -tcp doens't work.

EDIT: They just released the patch for the Kernel, stable version is now 5.1.14, fixing the issue with the tcp, you can see the changelog here. I was about to patch my own Kernel (and learn how to do that), but now I'll just wait till this Kernel get added on the repo.

After updating the kernel to 5.1.14.arch1-1 steam works again
