[SELF-SOLVED] Steam refuses to install a game on an ext4 partition

Due to an unfortunate even called "Bill Gates' life's work" I lost all of my data which gave me the chance to reformat my hard drives as ext4. I wanted to do that for a long time but I didn't have any extra hardware to use as backup.
So, I made the ext4 partitions, as root created a new group where I added my user rado and gave this group read and write permissions for the both partitions (/media/1000GB and /media/500GB). Rebooted the system and so far so good - I can read and write these partitions without any problems.

BUT!!! Steam refuses to install any game there which is weird because Steam is installed on an ext4 partition using the steam-native-pcre-fix package.

I thought removing the entire .steam folder where it stores its configs would fix it but it didn't. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to reinstall steam but somehow I doubt it would do any good.

Help, please?

P.S. The DE is Cinnamon, if it matters.

Start steam from the command line and inspect the messages, while you are trying to install a game on those drives.

Re: [SELF-SOLVED] Steam refuses to install a game on an ext4 partition

I found a way to fix it.
1. Remove all additional download folders from the list.
2. Install any game into the default Steam folder which is in ~/.local/share/Steam.
3. Create a new download path in Steam settings - in my case it's /media/1000GB/STEAM, right click on that path and set it to be default.
3. When the installation is completed, right click on the game --> Properties --> Local Files --> Move files and click OK. Steam will move all installed games to the new location and with this the problem gets solved.
