make laptop fans run quiet??

Hey smile

My arch linux on laptop acer runs fine, however i wonder if there are any ways to change fan speeds of everything so the laptop is completely quiet???

At the moment i have got fans running all the time...

I have tried hdparm and lm_sensors commands however it might not be enough...

I remember back in a day when i have used Linux Mint the laptop had ability to go completely quiet no sound.... I wish i had that on arch linux too!!! Some fan is on all the time...

Thanks smile

Have a good day

Re: make laptop fans run quiet??

Were you not concerned about temperatures in a former thread? Shutting down the fans is counterproductive.

Anyway, fancontrol is very HW specific and might even be done by the BIOS/uefi.
See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fan_speed_control but if the fans run because the HW is hot because some process loads it, you better just stop/fix that process.
Also "Some fan is on all the time" - do you expect us to force sense which one it is?
