Thumbnails don't work: Thumbnailer SyncTeX Error : No file

I'm using tumbler for thumbnails (thunar as my file browser). But tumbler stopped working. Reviewing my journal, this seems to be the problem:

tumblerd[855]: Failed to load plugin "tumbler-raw-thumbnailer.so": libopenrawgnome.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have tried removing and reinstalling tumbler, but to no avail. The odd thing is that this plugin _does_ seem to exist:

$ locate tumbler-raw-thumbnailer.so
/usr/lib/tumbler-1/plugins/tumbler-raw-thumbnailer.so

Failed to load plugin "tumbler-raw-thumbnailer.so"

That plugin is for thumbnailing RAW files, and you need to have libopenraw installed for it to work (that package provides the missing file "libopenrawgnome.so.7", and is listed as an optional dependency of tumbler).

Unless your problem is that RAW files aren't thumbnailed, it is unrelated to your issue.

Is there anything else in your journal? What files are you expecting to be thumbnailed?

Thanks. Ah I see. The problem is not with RAW images so indeed this error is unrelated. I'm trying to thumbnail JPG files (any filesize, from say 1kb-10MB). In Thunar I've set SHOW THUMBNAILS to ALWAYS, which was the only other thing I could think of.
