Firefox broken on new Arch install

First of all, I'm new to Arch and I installed it for the first time. Besides the enabling service gotchas, it's been a pretty smooth ride for me. Until it came to Firefox.

I did a pretty standard sudo pacman -S firefox and installed fine. I ran it, and that's where the touble started. At the first run, it had a page asking me to restart Firefox due to an "update", and after the restart all I get is a blank tab. I can't switch tabs, and trying to enter an address will get me the restart page again.

For the record, I've tried this with a minimal Arch pacstrap'd in a systemd-nspawn container and it behaved exactly the same.

I also downloaded Firefox tar.gz from Mozilla, that one doesn't even load, just segfaults.

Please help me fix this.

PS What's the standard way to share images on this forum? I'll share screenshots of Firefox if needed. And if there's any method to write monospace fonts inline instead of code blocks. I'm not fan of using different formatting to denote commands.

But there doesn't seem to be any use of a screenshot here.  As for what you are or are not a fan of, feel free to show your individuality in any personal webpage or a bit in your forum signature: the content of your posts, however, should stick to community standards.

As for your actual issue, have you seen this thread:

Re: Firefox broken on new Arch install

Please post your pacman.log. Also, terminate any existing firefox processes and run it from a terminal to see if it provides any useful output.

Use an image hosting service and post the links, optionally with thumbnails: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … s_and_code

... I was just asking how to write monospaced text in the forum posts besides the code blocks...

And thanks for the link, that's what's bugging me as well.
