Amarok crash

Hello guys,

I have a problem for mounths... :-/ AmaroK freeze randomly (after 15min, 1hour or 2 hours of playing). AmaroK is blocked and I most kill it.
It's really fucking...

Do you have an idea of the problem ?

I changed of card sound and the problem is always here.

I use amarok-base, with Xine and a MySQL database.

When i launch AmaroK is a xterm, the last message before the freeze is :

amarok: [xine-engine] Sleeping: 30684.7, 100

Any help or idea ?

Thanks,

Nicolas

Re: Amarok crash

I have the same problem. But not only at ArchLinux, also on my Kubuntu-Test-System. I hope the new version 1.4.2 would be available as soon as possible.

Yes

Do you have a big playlist ?

I think there was no difference, if the Playlist was big or not.

Re: Amarok crash

Should be related to mysql. Try switching to sqlite, and see what happens.

Re: Amarok crash

Grab 1.4.1 PKGBUILDs from ABS, change pkgver to 1.4.2, remove libvisual patch and build the package.

You could also try with amarok-svn.

Re: Amarok crash

The SVN build fails with a bunch of mySQL related errors, and I've just found that the 1.4.2 build fails similarly, unless compiled without mysql support.

EDIT: 1.4.2 just entered /extra, but it still does not work:

amarokapp: error while loading shared libraries: libmysqlclient.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

With mySQL 5.0.22 it works fine, but not with newer versions.
I've been told this is rectified in mySQL 5.0.24a, which isn't at the Arch repos yet.

Re: Amarok crash

Hmm... I just noticed this topic... and the clock related bug.

I have the same problem with Amarok. Same thing happens with XMMS too. I first thought it was an ALSA configure thing, since I played some time ago with it. I'm now with defaults (no ALSA config files) and I still have freezes in Amarok and XMMS.

Might be related.

Amarok-base (sql-lite) 1.4.3, xine engine, ~6700 items in playlist.
Stock beyond kernel, P4 w HT.

On a side note, I don't notice any clock anomalies. No ntpupdate here.
