Hello,
I have the Asus B450-I motherboard, and I suspect I am running into a similar issue as described in this thread, where my internal Bluetooth adapter is not being picked up as the USB device ID has not been added to the kernel module sources. I have identified the probable USB id that I need to add into the kernel module sources, but I am at a bit of a loss as to the "right" way to do it. I think I could either...
1: Compile the kernel using ABS, but that seems like a very circuitous route, and would require writing a patch file?
2: Use DKMS to insert my amended module, but I am unsure as to whether and how to maintain my local copy of the /drivers/bluetooth source tree properly?
3: Write a patch file and insert it directly??
All I think I need to do in the source file https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/ … th/btusb.c is add in around line 386 the following:
{ USB_DEVICE(0x0b05, 0x1872), .driver_info = BTUSB_REALTEK },Any advice as to the easiest/most correct way to do this would be appreciated. I don't want my bluetooth module becoming out of date for just one amendment.
EDIT: I stumbled on a French thread regarding the same issue which seems to indicate that this will not be enough. I also tried the DKMS method, but had no success, no new bluetooth device was detected.
