Fira font rendering after latest upgrade (about kernel 5.2.2)

Right after the last upgrade which brought kernel 5.2.2 I saw that Fira fonts rendering (I am using Fira Code Retina) is screwed up. I am using the font in dwm, st term and Emacs and they all show the same defect. Since I cannot post images, this is the closest I can describe it:

( f s e t ' y e s - o r - n o - p ' y - o r - n - p )

( s e t q i n h i b i t - s t a r t u p - m e s s a g e t )

( s e t q d i s p l a y - t i m e - d a y - a n d - d a t e t d i s p l a y - t i m e - 2 4 h r - f o r m a t t )
( d i s p l a y - t i m e )

I.e., fonts are rendered in double the space for a normal character. The only time I have seen this before was when I was using CJK or some international fonts for asian languages. Not sure what to make of it. And only Fira seems to be affected by it. I uninstalled it and installed it back, looks the same.

Any ideas?

Does the same issue occur in other terminal emulators?

Re: Fira font rendering after latest upgrade (about kernel 5.2.2)

Xterm, st, emacs, dwm, dmenu are affected. But this morning I looked in the Fira repo on github and saw this issue. It looks like the latest release is the culprit. Somehow. I don't understand what's going on. But installing the OTF Fira instead of the TTF Fira fixed my problem for now. Until next time.
