Problems with aRts

Hi there!

I have a slight problem with aRts Soundserver on my notebook:

Whenever i change something at the Sound System under KDE, the Soundserver needs to be restartet. This is very slow on my notebook and when the 100% are reached, it starts over again. On my Desktop Computer its very fast and only one time.
When i try to run the soundserver-control it takes a while until a little Window appears where it says "aRts had to be restarted!", and this too, is happening over and over again, until i kill the artsd process maually. While doing that i noticed that i have more than one process for arts running... there are at least 4 of them and even more when i try to run the control in KDE or artscontrol in the console.
Some multimedia Players like juke and Noatun dont work too and i guess its because of arts not working proberly(at least i dont need those which are not workling).

As said, on my desktop computer everything is fine with arts...just one process running, normal soundserver restart and artscontrol working.  I have a Realtek AC97 Onboard Soundcard on both systems.

I tried removing and reinstalling arts, but that didn't help. I guess if i would reinstall the complete KDE it would work, but before i do that i would like to know if threre is a simplier way of fixing that issue.
I once red about someone who installed KDE without arts, but i dont know how to do that, since arts is installed by pacman automatically because of dependencies when i install kdebase.

Re: Problems with aRts

Just disable it from kcontrol. It is there just to give trouble to any KDE user (myself included).
It will be totally removed in KDE4, anyway.
