Hello,
I'm trying to change my default monospace font. I placed the following text into /etc/fonts/local.conf:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">
<fontconfig>
<match target="pattern">
<test qual="any" name="family">
<string>monospace</string>
</test>
</match>
<edit name="family" mode="assign" binding="same">
<string>mononoki</string>
</edit>
</fontconfig>
Then, I rebooted my computer, and nothing changed.
May I get some assistance?

Welcome to the forum.
a) please wrap file contents and shell output in "code" tags
b) the edit belongs into the match section
c) rather use
<?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">
<fontconfig>
<alias>
<family>monospace</family>
<prefer><family>mononoki</family></prefer>
</alias>
</fontconfig>c) rather add a high (99-*) file in /etc/fonts/conf.d/ or ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/ (depending on whether this is meant for the system or your user only)

Fixed it. Thank you. Used suggestion b).
